TecAccess, a leading providers of accessibility and workforce solutions, has announced the hiring of Loretta Chittum as its Senior Vice President for Government and Customer Relations.
Loretta is the former Deputy Assistant Secretary/Special Assistant at the U.S. Department of Education´s Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services. In that capacity, she served as principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary and has provided management leadership in designing & directing the operations of national disability programs.
While working in Washington, she worked collaboratively with representatives of the White House, Department of Labor, Social Security Administration, Department of Transportation, and other federal agencies. In addition, she worked with national organizations serving individuals with disabilities and their families on issues of national scope with local reach.
Loretta also worked extensively on the reauthorization of the Rehabilitation Act/Workforce Investment Act. She served as an (alternate) member of the Access Board and the Federal Interagency Coordinating Council. Loretta has also initiated and led the efforts for the agency´s evacuation of people with disabilities & other post-9/11 security measures. In this capacity, she testified before the U.S. House of Representatives´ Committee on Education & the Workforce and the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure regarding Coordinating Human Services Transportation.
Prior to being appointed to her federal post with the U.S. Department of Education, Loretta served for nearly a decade in state government. She was appointed by the Governor to serve as the Chief Deputy Commissioner and Director of the Center for Elder Rights for the Virginia Department for the Aging. She has also worked as the Chief Deputy Commissioner for the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services and as Legislative Coordinator for the Secretary of Health and Human Resources.
Loretta and her husband, Warren, live in Virginia with their 4-year-old son, Carl.
