Debra Ruh to Discuss Disabled Veteran Training Program; ATIA 2008

The mission of The Assistive Technology Industry Association , ATIA, is to serve as the collective voice of the Assistive Technology industry so that the best products and services are delivered to people with disabilities. Debra Ruh will present "Disabled Veterans - an Untapped Workforce" on Thursday, January 31, 2008, 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm. The ATIA 2008 Conference will provide networking opportunities with nearly 2,400 professionals and consumers, with more than 275 educational sessions, and 125+ top industry vendors.

"TecAccess´ session will discuss the unique pilot training program now offered throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, and its success in placing returning veterans with disabilities in leading, high tech IT jobs," explains Ruh, an internationally recognized keynote speaker on the topic of disabilities and accessible technology.

Ruh´s highly anticipated presentation will explain how TecAccess launched its one-of-a-kind Disabled Veterans (DVET) initiative that is driven by a dynamic partnership between private industry and government agencies nationwide. Providing an immediate impact, DVET implements an innovative approach that offers professional training and hiring of disabled veterans on a national scale.

Topics explored by Ruh at the upcoming event will include: the assistive technology used, training requirements, mentoring and counseling programs, and the partnerships for funding and placement. Ruh will also offer best practice examples, highlighting the success and nationwide popularity of this groundbreaking program that can be replicated by corporations and government agencies that are now increasing efficiency and return on investment by placing disabled veterans in positions to make an impact in the workplace.
