Rockville, VA - May 14, 2007-- The US Business Leadership Network (USBLN®) today announced that it has named TecAccess Founder and President, Debra Ruh, and Director of the Division of Disability Services at the Convalescent Hospital for Children in Cincinnati, Erin Riehle, MSN, RN, as new board members. Both women, innovators in the education and implementation of employment practices for persons with disabilities, bring years of expert professional experience to the USBLN®.
Debra Ruh offers more than 25 years of career practice initiating compliance and policy solutions for private industry and government agencies, while also focusing her efforts on technologically innovative e-learning solutions for persons with disabilities. Ruh was recently appointed to the Olmstead Board by Virginia Governor, Tim Kaine, and was named the 2007 winner of Enterprising Women Magazine´s Advocacy Award.
Ruh is an international authority and leader in the realms of E&IT Accessibility and Section 508 Compliance. She has presented to the United States Government and to members of the Europe Union. Her vision to educate and introduce businesses to the broadly varied and exceptional skills of those in the under utilized special needs market coalesces with the best intentions of the USBLN®, making this new partnership an energizing proposition.
In Erin Riehle, MSN, RN, the USBLN® gains the expert perspective of a recognized authority and national leader in the promotion of employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. Riehle is a Founder and Co-Director of Project Search, a group that aims to provide employment opportunities across industry for persons with disabilities. She is also a member of the Association for Career and Technical Education and the Association for Person in Supported Employment. Currently, she is the Director of the Division of Disability Services at the Convalescent Hospital for Children in Cincinnati.
Emanating from an intense frustration with the high turnover rates among workers performing important, but simple tasks, in the hospital environment, Riehle cultivated her interest in employment for persons with disabilities by placing such individuals in these frequently vacated positions. Theses actions yielded a solution to her staffing needs and an improvement in the quality of life for those she employed. This kind of focused and effective program implementation marks the character and integrity that the USBLN® desires, and that Riehle humbly brings to the group.
The USBLN® is the national organization that supports development and expansion of its BLN chapters across the country, serving as their collective voice. It is the only national disability organization led by business for business. The USBLN® recognizes and promotes best practices in hiring, retaining, and marketing to people with disabilities. There are 44 Business Leadership Network chapters in 32 states, including the District of Columbia, representing more than 5,000 employers across the US. The BLN uses a business to business approach to educate, promoting the business imperative of including people with disabilities in the workforce. Learn more at www.usbln.org.
