Rockville, VA-- March 16, 2005-- As part of a three-day long competition with women from around the state of Virginia, Debra Ruh, president of TecAccess was invited as an honorary speaker at this year´s Ms. Wheelchair Virginia 2005 event. Representing the 33rd annual Ms. Wheelchair Virginia program in Richmond, Virginia, Debra delivered a stirring presentation to participants as part of a series of workshops leading up to the crowning of this year´s winner.
Debra spoke about the opportunities, trials, and tribulations of starting her own technology company, TecAccess. She explained why she chose to create a company that primarily hires people with disabilities and shared the successes of this solid business model. TecAccess continues to educate the world about the many possibilities available when technology is accessible to everyone. Discussing Section 508 conformance and the efforts TecAccess to remove barriers in E&IT, Debra was greeted with enthusiasm from the audience, all of whom will serve as ambassadors for people with disabilities, covering accessibility issues, over the year to come.
Following the presentation and crowning of this year´s Ms. Wheelchair Virginia, Debra and TecAccess were pleased to congratulate Angie Wilkerson, an ADA consultant, as the new titleholder and primary advocate. Participation in Ms. Wheelchair Virginia´s program serves a part of TecAccess´ goal to improve the accessibility of technology for all people, regardless of their ability level.
