TecAccess Adds PDF Section 508 Testing, Remediation Accessibility and Certification Services

TecAccess, a worldwide leader in electronic and information technology, announced today that it has added Portable Document Format (PDF) file remediation, assessment, and testing to its suite of accessibility services. Rendering PDF documents accessible allows persons with dexterity and vision impairments to navigate though content. It also permits individuals with visual disabilities to decipher PDF content by using screen readers.

In addition to PDF documents, TecAccess assesses, tests, and offers remediation for Internet, e-Learning, telecommunications, and software applications to comply with Section 508 standards. Once remediation is completed, TecAccess will issue a letter of certification to verify that best efforts have been made toward Section 508 compliance.

TecAccess Adds JAWS Scripting to its Suite of Services

TecAccess announced that it would add JAWS scripting to its suite of services. Travis Roth, TecAccess Senior Accessibility Analyst, will be one of several associates who will perform this service.

Scripting is a term used to describe the programming language that accompanies JAWS, the screen reading application produced by Freedom Scientific. The powerful scripting interface allows the screen reader to be used with many applications that otherwise do not initially work with JAWS. TecAccess can customize JAWS to provide the user with the information needed to use an application in speech or Braille output. Thus if an organization´s application is partially or completely incompatible with JAWS for marketing purposes or employee usage, it may need JAWS scripts developed.

"We are proud to offer JAWS scripting as a new service," said Debra Ruh, President and Founder of TecAccess. "We have several very talented JAWS scripters who have many years of experience. Our senior JAWS scripter is Travis Roth who has been providing JAWS scripting services and solutions for years."

About JAWS

Developed by Freedom Scientific, JAWS is the most popular screen reader worldwide. JAWS´ internal speech synthesizer reads aloud screen information from software applications and the Internet. JAWS also offers support for refreshable Braille.
