Verizon Settles FCC Complaint
Verizon recently reached a settlement that will help accommodate the needs of persons with visual impairments. Even though the terms of the settlement were not released, Verizon Wireless has plans to introduce a moderately priced wireless handset with new accessibility features later this year. The introduction of the wireless handset will address some of the concerns raised by Dr. Bonnie O´Day who filed a complaint with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in 2003. The O´Day settlement also led to the production of a new mobile phone that can be used by blind individuals.

Thanks to ADA, Travel Companies Make Their Websites Accessible
Thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), travel has become more accessible for travelers with disabilities. Now travel companies are making their websites more accessible. Priceline.com and Ramada.com have agreed to changes that will allow site visitors with visual impairments to navigate and listen to text throughout their websites using screen readers and other technologies. Priceline.com has already made online ticket purchase accessible to the visually impaired. The company plans to have its entire site accessible by the end of the year.
