Mankain-Sabot, VA-- TecAccess, a worldwide leader in Section 508 compliance and electronic and information technology (E&IT) accessibility solutions, continues to garner recognition for its commitment to make the world of technology accessible to people with disabilities and to employ persons with disabilities.

Debra Ruh, President and founder of TecAccess, was named the Virginia Minority Small Business Person of the Year for 2005 and the Region III Minority Small Business Person of the Year for 2005 by the Small Business Administration (SBA). She shares the regional honor with a Pennsylvania firm, Pride Enterprises, Inc.

The SBA, founded in 1953 by the U.S. Congress, is a champion for small businesses. The SBA empowers entrepreneurs to start and build viable businesses that create the jobs that strengthen communities. For more information about all of the SBA´s programs for small businesses, visit the SBA's extensive website at www.sba.gov.

Ms. Ruh´s SBA awards follow an impressive year-long series of honors for TecAccess. This award recognizes TecAccess´ commitment to recruit and hire people who are visually impaired.

TecAccess was also recently named as one of the top 100 Diversity-Owned Businesses in the United States (Div100) by DiversityBusiness.com. The Div100 is the 6th annual listing of the Nation´s top 100 diversity-owned businesses. The companies listed on the Div100 represent the Nations top multicultural earners, demonstrating that minority owned businesses are sought after by major corporations wishing to increase spending with diversity-owned companies.

In 2006, Ms. Ruh won the Women in Technology Leadership by Women in Technology (WIT), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to offering women in all levels of the technology industry a wide range of professional development and networking opportunities. TecAccess was also the proud recipient of the Most Creative Place to Work Award by Style Weekly and Career Climber magazines due to its unique use of a trendsetting telecommuting model. The impressive year was also marked with Debra Ruh winning the Humanitarian of the Year Award by the Kiwanis Club.

In addition, TecAccess was recently featured in Washington Technology magazine, which recognized the company as a leader in the government IT market. Entrepreneur Magazine will also feature TecAccess in an upcoming issue.

TecAccess is honored and inspired by all the recognition it has accumulated this year, not the least of which includes the company´s most prestigious distinction: the 2005 New Freedom Initiative Award, given by the U.S. Department of Labor. Founded upon the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act, this highly prestigious award recognizes public-private partnerships and programs that have had a positive impact on the employment of people with disabilities. The U.S. Department of Labor has also honored TecAccess with an invitation to join the NFI Circle of Champions, providing the award-winning consultancy an opportunity to participate in information exchange events with other corporate leaders on effective practices and innovative strategies for advancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
