Biography: Rosemary Musachio

While using a head pointer to skillfully navigate keys on her computer, Rosemary Musachio types with confidence. Rosemary, who has cerebral palsy and cannot speak or use her hands, finishes her sentence, which reads simply:
"TecAccess gave me my respect back; TecAccess gave me my life back."
Rosemary proudly works alongside 50 other accessibility experts, the majority of whom are people with disabilities, encompassing the award-winning consultancy, TecAccess.
When Rosemary was born, the doctor asked her parents, "What will you do with her?" The physician went on to explain that she had brain damage, which resulted in cerebral palsy. The doctor mistakenly presumed that Rosemary would be a vegetable for the rest of her life.
Today, Rosemary Musachio is a premier business leader in the IT industry!
With love and patience from her parents and friends, Rosemary has proven that doctor dead wrong. For every physical challenge that she may have, she has found a way to overcome it. Though she cannot walk, she uses a motorized chair and travels the world (recently visiting Italy, Germany, Austria, and France). Though she cannot talk, she uses a word board to communicate eloquently and participates in board meeting with other high level executives throughout the world. Though she cannot use her hands to perform daily tasks, she uses a head pointer to type.
Despite such challenges, Rosemary has accomplished more than most able bodied individuals can ever dream. Best of all, she continues to set and achieve every goal that she sets forth. A graduate of Cleveland States University, with a B.A. in Communications, Rosemary also writes a monthly column for Sun Newspapers in Cleveland, Ohio. Her column, Bit Of A Challenge, has been the paper´s most popular column, running for ten years. She has also published articles in Audacity Magazine and The Plain Dealer.
In September 2002, Rosemary saw an ad by TecAccess in a disability newsletter. Initially serving as an accessibility tester for web based applications, Rosemary quickly became known for her expertise in Section 508 compliance and accessibility standards. Since that time Rosemary has excelled at all levels of business at TecAccess, while holding positions such as Intermediate Accessibility Analyst, Marketing Analyst, Business Development, and Media Relations. Today, Rosemary continues to serve as a top employee at TecAccess, while holding a managerial position in the growing company and teaching others the value in accessible design. When not leading the IT industry, Rosemary is also quite the adventure seeker -- as she is currently making plans for a hang gliding excursion.
