Veterans with Disabilities
A base level of IT knowledge in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office is typically needed. While some of the jobs require much more advanced training in later phases of the program, the program´s initial training in various assistive technologies, such as voice recognition software and screen readers, allow people with disabilities to interface with these systems.
TecAccess will work with government and other entities to identify program candidates that possess the requisite qualifications (e.g., security clearances) and base knowledge needed to complete the program. TecAccess then provides him or her with the necessary technical training, mentoring, and knowledge support to ensure high productivity in the targeted workplace. Upon completing the program, and successfully completing qualification tests, individuals will be placed in a suitable position where they can continue to cultivate their skills for business and government.
Online services, such as accessible web-conferencing tools, will be used when possible to conduct interviews, provide job shadowing, mentoring, technical support, and individual tutoring. Utilizing online services will provide immediate assistance to the candidate/student, as well as reduce program costs (especially in the area of travel expenses). The use of online services will enable support to be provided to remote areas, a factor that could be very important to reserve component veterans who do not live near government facilities.
We are experts in training people with disabilities, employing AT technologies, and successfully integrating disabled employees into the workforce. TecAccess employs a diverse and skilled team of accessibility professionals, many of whom have disabilities. This uniquely positions us to evaluate compliance, accessibility, and usability from the perspective of people with disabilities. It also positions us to train others in the use of these technologies and effectively counsel the disabled engaged in other subjects.
