Veterans with Disabilities
Many Veterans with Disabilities returning from the GWOT suffer from physical disabilities (e.g., loss of limbs) that prevent them from returning to the military or holding jobs that require manual dexterity. These veterans have the following positive attributes:
- They are from a volunteer force
- They are at least high school graduates
- They have been exposed to technology during developmental years
- They are motivated
- They can enter your workforce with identifiable and transferable skills, proven in real-world situations
- They know the dynamics of leadership as part of both hierarchical and peer structures
- They demonstrate direction, dedication, motivation, and inspiration
Note: Preliminary studies show most Veterans with Disabilities from the GWOT accept their disabilities and look forward to living a challenging and productive life. In addition to dealing positively with the typical issues of personal maturity, veterans have frequently triumphed over great adversity. They likely have proven their mettle in mission critical situations demanding endurance, stamina, flexibility, and resilience.
TecAccess believes our Veterans with Disabilities can learn new skills that will allow them to be fully productive members of society. Currently, companies and government organizations create a significant demand for skilled knowledge workers. Knowledge workers typically require limited physical ability and use electronic technology to interface with computer systems. These jobs can include such categories as the following:
